🚄 | HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd tunnelling machines hit first major
milestone.
The two 2,000t tunnelling machines digging High Speed 2 (HS2)’s tunnels under the Chilterns have completed the first stage up to the ventilation shaft at Chalfont St Peter.
This achievement means that a combined total of over 5.7km has now been dug by the two machines – named Florence and Cecilia – since they launched from the southern end of the tunnels last summer.
