👉At 11km it will be Australia’s longest road tunnel

👉It forms part of the A$4.5bn (£2.4bn) Great Western Highway upgrade between Katoomba and Lithgow

👉The tunnel will bypass the towns of Blackheath and Mount Victoria, currently on the route of the A32 highway through the mountainous region some 150km west of Sydney

👉The tunnel design features dual carriageways for both eastbound and westbound motorists in separate twin tunnels
